Mission Statement & Goals

The mission of this Honorary Consulate is (1) to serve the interests of Finland throughout Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana, and (2) to assist the Finnish communities and friends of Finland in those four states.

The goals of the Honorary Consulate are likewise twofold: First, develop greater economic/commercial, cultural, and tourist ties between the Intermountain West and Finland; second, foster closer relationships among the Finnish
communities in this jurisdiction.


	The Honorary Consulate reports to the Consulate General in Los Angeles, headed by Consul General Manu Virtamo, who in turn reports to the Embassy. The current Ambassador of Finland to the United States is His Excellency Pekka Lintu.

As Honorary Consul of Finland, Andy Bingham is a member of the Utah Consular Corps (UCC). Founded in 2000, the UCC comprises career or honorary consuls, consuls general, or vice consuls appointed by the Heads of State of their respective countries and duly accredited by the United States Government. Presently, there are 25 members, representing countries ranging from Scandinavia to the Americas, New Zealand to South Africa. Honorary Consul Andrew M. Bingham

Andrew M. Bingham is the founder and Managing Principal of Astoria Capital Management, a Salt Lake City-headquartered, asset-management firm with offices in Shenzhen (China), Tallinn (Estonia), and Newport Beach (California). Prior to founding Astoria Capital, Mr. Bingham was a vice president at Merrill Lynch (NYSE; MER), where he specialized in the development of private banking services for entrepreneurs and middle-market-growth companies. Andy Bingham is actively involved in several philanthropic and service organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America and The Road Home homeless shelter. As a young man, Andy spent several years in Finland - which is when he learned to speak Finnish - and has maintained close ties with the many friends and business acquaintances he has made since then. He is married to the former Pilvi Fristrom; together they have four sons and reside in Utah.

*You can either go on Mapquest for directions or use the following: Exit I-215 at 6200 South and either remain in or move to the furthest right (south) lane. Follow that lane as it turns from 6200 South onto 3000 East and proceed to the second stoplight at 6580 South/East Cottonwood Parkway. Turn right (west) and continue until you reach 2795 South Cottonwood Parkway on the north side of the street. The Honorary Consulate is located in Suite 600 in the office of Raymond James.
